An Avalanche In Tahoe Following the introduction of the Tahoe full-size SUV, it was only a matter of time before Chevrolet introduced the pickup version. And here it is, the 2007 Avalanche. Exterior styling follows almost exactly that of the Tahoe, with the exception of the pickup box. Chevy also increased the power of the flex-fuel engine–you can use methanol or gasoline–made the cabin quieter and gave the truck a more precise driving feel, according to company descriptions. Chevy also claims improved fuel economy from all its new engines. Avalanches will be available in three levels–LS, LT and LTZ–each offering two- or four-wheel drive. Three engines will be available by the end of 2006: two 5.3-liter versions and the 6.0-liter V8. The smaller engines develop 310 and 320 horsepower, respectively, the larger 355. Transmissions remain four-speed automatic only.–Jim DunneChicago Auto Show 8: Toyota Tundra, Honda Civic Si Sedan Concept Chicago Auto Show 7: Nissan Quest, Hyundai EntourageChicago Auto Show 6: Dodge Rampage ConceptChicago Auto Show 5: Lexus ES 350Chicago Auto Show 4: Dodge Caliber SRT4, Lincoln NavigatorChicago Auto Show 3: M-B AMG Musclecars, GM OnStar Upgrade
