LEGO makes a lot of new sets every year, but none approach the kind of detail and quality of its Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series. LEGO has constructed some of the films’ most iconic ships, like the Millennium Falcon. Now, it’s adding one more behemoth to the list an Imperial Star Destroyer, and it’s the longest LEGO set the company has ever made. And this isn’t just any Star Destroyer. LEGO modeled this set after the very first ship, called the Devastator, that graced screens back in 1977 during the opening minutes of A New Hope. Complete with an included (though tiny) Rebel Blockade Runner, this Imperial Star Destroyer is a massive 4,584-piece set, a set only dwarfed by 2017’s Millennium Falcon (that came in at about 7,500 pieces).Open GalleryHere’s everything the set includes:Imperial officer and crewmember minifigureSwiveling guns, tilting radar dish, intricate surface detailing, and accessible cargo bay.Tantive IV blockade runner sized to scaleDisplay stand and informational fact plaqueAnd obviously, the 4,784 pieces that make the Imperial Star DestroyerThe Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Imperial Star Destroyer will be available on LEGO.com on October 1, 2019, for $700.Darren OrfDarren lives in Portland, has a cat, and writes/edits about sci-fi and how our world works.
