A new report from the Financial Times details exploitative business practices at Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn. According to these allegations, Foxconn has been forcing around 3,000 high school students to work overtime to assemble the new iPhone X, often working 11-hour days at one of the company’s factories.Apple contracts out the assembly of its iPhones and other products to Taiwanese company Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, which owns and operates several factories in China....

Nintendo just announced that its next mini console will be (predictably) the SNES Classic. Like the NES, it will come with 21 pre-installed games ranging from Mario standards (and the previously unreleased Star Fox 2) to JRPG’s like Final Fantasy III, Secret of Mana, Earthbound, and the wonderfully excellent Super Mario RPG. American Airlines flight 1897 from San Antonio, Texas, to Phoenix, Arizona, was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday night as the plane sustained heavy damage from a hail storm. The Airbus A319, carrying 130 passengers and five crew members, ran into a storm over New Mexico, forcing pilots to divert to El Paso International Airport for an emergency landing at 8:03 p.m. MDT on June 3. No injuries have been reported and all the passengers safely deplaned in El Paso....

Chinese police used a drone to help them capture Song Moujiang, an escaped fugitive, who had been arrested several years ago on human trafficking charges.Authorities employed the use of a drone due to the difficulties in navigating the tough terrain.The drone captured footage of what appeared to be a blue ceiling tile—a color in stark contrast to the surrounding greenery—which prompted officers to believe that they had located Moujiang.A drone recently captured fugitive Song Moujiang, a Chinese human trafficker who had escaped prison 17 years ago....

Millions of years ago, a shark that would dwarf even the largest of its modern relatives plied the waters of the earth. Called the megalodon, the creature could grow to almost 60 feet in length. But about two million to three million years ago, the megalodon disappeared. Researchers believed they primarily died off as part of a mass extinction 2.6 million years ago, but new evidence suggests they disappeared long before then....

A paper published in PNAS shares the incredible evolutionary process a salmon parasite underwent to obtain a natural ability to survive without needing oxygen.Some in the scientific community are skeptical about the parasite’s ability to live its entire life without oxygen—similar to the unresolved skepticism that accompanied 2010 research in which scientists claimed to have found marine organisms that also seemingly did not need oxygen to live (these findings remain unconfirmed)....

The U.S. Air Force is too small. That’s the word from Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson, who today called for the USAF to add 40,000 more personnel and 74 more squadrons by 2030 to cope with missions from Korea to Afghanistan while gearing up for big power conflict with countries like Russia or China. Growth won’t be cheap however. One expert estimated the annual costs at nearly $20 billion, and that’s not including new aircraft and equipment....
